Desmond Kon

a haiku is this weight of oxygen

involve the beat, ears
delay the sequence - hello
and goodbye, island

they said don't say soul
they said liquid, fluid, lea
skipping stones, no calm

modernism is an oscillation of haiku

pier on the green line
through the emerald ballroom
a dance of bouquets

street finds in basement
gourmet chefs picking lobsters
one mud crab escapes

apples, then toffee
to separate the taste, angst
in a sutra, lost

spice bar at a glance
fingers in your fingers, soft
welcome, poppy fields

illusionism is a waveform of haiku

hollow as chest voice
shallow sounds, cough, oration
downstream translation

this piano duet
our spectacle, new form
pulse, phrase, half-sung, wedge

wisdom like fresh shells
spotted carp in a swim, black
marking blister pearls
